Concordia Track and Field is proud to offer winter and summer pole vault training! We are located right in the heart of St. Paul, MN. Camp sessions are open to all vaulters in the Twin Cities, Minnesota and Wisconsin area.

Our Philosophy:

At Concordia Pole Vault Camp we firmly believe in empowering young and experienced athletes alike to take control of their own vaulting careers. Our teaching methodology streamlines the vault, according to the Petrov/Bubka Technical Model, into its simplest, most understandable components, and presents these components through a series of relatable and simple drills.

From there, it’s plenty of perfect practice that divides the great athletes from the amateurs, and we are committed to providing young athletes with an atmosphere of perfect practice so that they can reach their full potential. As coaches we give kids the tools, knowledge, and feedback necessary to ensure safety and, eventually, exemplary performance.

What Does a Typical Session Look Like?

We place a high value on technique. There is no greater assurance of safety and success than sound, consistent technique. As a result, improving technical understanding and performance of the vault underscores every aspect of a typical practice. While each
session will vary slightly depending on the time of the year and the individual needs of the athlete, a typical session will include three parts:

  • Warm-up: A functional warm up aimed at preparing both the body and the brain for the physical and mental demands of the vault. No time is wasted with unnecessary activity that does not contribute directly to the technical development of the athlete.
  • Drills: Time spent focusing on a set of critically important drills that will address the most important aspects of the vault.
  • Vaulting: Time on the runway that is specifically geared toward addressing the individual needs of each athlete. The coaches and athlete will utilize various forms of auto feedback in order to present clear, objective markers of improvement for the athlete.
